A little avant-garde jab at the powers that be in Cuba, this is the kind of book that really surprised me in Cuba. Not so much the book itself, but the fact that poets in Cuba were willing to take such blatant shots at Marx -- and at a government-sanctioned poetry conference no less! At the first reading, on the first day, Carlos read a very fun, very sarcastic poem, called "Mao." He and his compatriots struck me as brazen and courageous in their willingness to question the authority of the authorities.

Anyhow, this book is a doozy -- it would take to long to try to translate even a fragment of it. Suffice it to say it is playing with Marx, but more specifically with Wittgenstein in the Tractatus. Maybe some day I'll try to spend some time translating it!
